The Church of Pentecost, like most great institutions, started in a small way. The Church’s beginnings are linked to the ministry of Pastor James McKeown (1900-1989); an Irish missionary sent by the Apostolic Church, Bradford, United Kingdom (UK), to the then Gold Coast (now Ghana) in 1937

Being Like Jesus; A Call for Action

Passage: Ephesians 2:10, Colossians 3:1-17, 4:2-5, Genesis 6:6, Revelation 20: 8, Ephesians 2:4-6

Service Type: Sunday Service

All men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Back to the Eden environment, when the first man and Eve sinned against God, this marred the relationship between man and God.

From Eph 2:4; for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

God’s redemption plan for us was planned beforehand even before we came into being by birth, so we are not accidents but His delight, we were planned for. It is for this same reason that the sins of man couldn’t be forgiven even with the blood of animals which was God’s order in the old covenant. We needed a blood that was worthy and, thanks be to God, for giving us His son Jesus to be a ransom for us.

Now, after a person has received Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour, he or she becomes a Christian. The all time question is “What’s next?” The disciples were first called Christian’s because the people saw them and knew that they had been with Jesus. This answers the question, now; what’s next, and the next thing to do, is to be like Jesus, in your walk, talk and character.

Christians must be careful not to be swayed with just the branding of calling ourselves Christian, rather the life behind the name should be just like Christ. This is important because for some unbelievers we are the bibles they would read.

Making an allusion from the parable of the talents; one thing should be of importance to you as an individual, and that is, Even if we cannot bring in souls to the Kingdom of God, make sure your personal salvation is not lost when the master returns.

Having said these, Ecclesiastes 12 verse 13 says, “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion on the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

Prayer: Dear Lord, grant us the grace to be like Jesus and to live for Him. Amen.

Shalom, Peace, and life to you all. Amen.
